Torchlight XBLA. Review
This action RPG is rather poorly represented on the Xbox 360, and its developers brought their Torchlight, a sleeper hit, to the Xbox Live Arcade.
The player will be given the role of a hero who intends to investigate the bizarre things going on in the mines of the city. All the rest of this plot is of little consequence (he story is revealed most of the time through scrolling text windows) as, set in the town of Torchlight, this game is driven by lust as its only motivation.
The game character here is possessed by the only desire of loot that drives his every action making him sell everything for it, get killed for it or risk thousands of gold pieces for it. The hero is equipped with gear from head to toe: there is a piece of armor for arms, head, hands, shoulders waist, neck, belt, and fingers – all this in a set with jewels and weapons.

There are three characters to choose from prior to getting engulfed headfirst into the loot town. Every one of these characters has its own learnable skills and abilities, as well as its preferred weapon type - ranged, melee, or staffs and wands. The loot among its multiple tiers in this game may be generated randomly by a runic, and one cannot always be sure what item it will be and how much power it will have.
During the game the more powerful your character becomes the more explosions and flashing lights its weapons will hurl and against even larger amounts of enemies. The game may even reach the point when it doesn’t keep up with this power and speed very well. As, overall, Torchlight doesn't have much of audio or graphics to offer: all the same environments, sound effects and enemies appear repeatedly again and again. The only tiny bit of unpredictability in this game can be found in its randomly generated level layouts only. Yet, if Torchlight XBLA ever appeals to you it will be through its gameplay, which can be played only alone, alas. This fact may be of great help while considering whether to buy or not this game.

Among Torchlight’s other aspects should be mentioned that controls work well, with menus and inventory management being streamlined as well, so as not to get in the way during the game.
All these features make Torchlight XBLA a fine quest for loot for those who like to run this affair as a solitary one. It is an ideal game to quench one’s lust for loot and at price as little as 15 bucks.
